Cidade Matarazzo opened its doors to receive Rock na Cidade, a celebration of the 461st anniversary of São Paulo on January 25th. The festival, which was free and open to the public, had a line-up of 40 bands, food trucks and a pet adoption fair.

After “Made By… Feito Por Brasileiros”, the art show that received 120 thousand visitors last year, Cidade Matarazzo continues to promote art democracy, this time through an event with a focus on music. Besides presenting the city and its population with free concerts, Rock na Cidade also provided exposure to up and coming bands.

Produced by Rádio 89 FM and with the support of Prefeitura de São Paulo, the festival included performances by: Ira!, Brothers Of Brazil, Urbana Legion, Nem Liminha Ouviu, Matilha, Toyshop, Preto Massa, Amores Brutus, The Moondogs, Persia, Yohomama, Carapuça, Maré de Rua, Mr. Kaos, Marvins, Beatrix, Dany Romano, Dona Laide, Os Ribeiras, Sons de Saturno, No Ducky, Garage Dezoito, Frater5, W-Rox, Murrugas, Agosto, Nacho y los Pussygatos and Efelix. Bands were selected from among over 1600 entries via Temos Vagas – Rádio 89’s show dedicated to up and coming artists.
