Made by… Feito por Brasileiros is a movement that celebrates Brazilian creativity as a main pillar in the future of the country’s economy.
Important names in both the Brazilian and international scene have already joined the movement, such as Beatriz Milhazes, Vik Muniz, Xavier Veilhan, Jean-Michel Othoniel, Joana Vasconcelos, Laura Vinci & José Miguel Wisnik, Cinthia Marcelle, Douglas White, Dora Longo Bahia, Paulo Nimer Pjota, Rochelle Costi, Arne Quinze, Valter Lano, among many others.
In 2014, the first initiative of this movement took the form of a Creative Invasion, an unparalleled art performance held in the old Matarazzo Hospital, which reopened its doors for the first time in 20 years. Idealized by Alexandre Allard and curated by Marc Pottier, about 100 artists occupied corridors, pavilions and gardens with artworks and performances.
The Made by… Feito por Brasileiros exhibit – which welcomed approximately 120 thousand visitors – was awarded the Associação Paulista dos Críticos de Arte (APCA) Prize of Best Cultural Initiative in the category of Visual Arts. The book about the Creative Invasion is scheduled to be released early next year.
In 2015, Cidade Matarazzo opened its doors to the public again with the “Rock na Cidade” music festival. Forty bands were invited to perform within the venue in commemoration of the 461st birthday of the city of São Paulo.
